The TU Munich invited us to a course on „Major Design“. The aim was to deal mainly with connecting systems for timber construction and to provide the students with technical know-how. A bicycle bridge in Thalkirchen/Munich, Germany, was the assignment for the current draft. Mr. Siegfried Heinzmann and the students worked out which Knapp connectors could be the most load-bearing and best suited to fulfill this assignment. With the help of samples and drawings of the bridge, we discussed topics such as heavy connectors, prefabrication, assembly of wall elements with Walco connectors, and outdoor assembly solutions.
