With his masterpiece, the joiner Phillip Strigel has created a table that is more than just a table: there is space for a drawer at one end, the other conceals a pull-out unit that can be used to extend the top in just a few simple steps.
The extension is based on a pull-out tabletop that – when folded in – can simply be slid under the table, where it is ready for use. The drawer opposite uses wooden slats for the extension – and thus refers to traditional carpentry.
Because of the pull-outs, the table legs could not be stabilised with a frame at the ends. Instead, Strigel relies on a combination of steel angles and Knapp easy-con connectors to assemble and stabilise the table legs. To simplify assembly, the master joiner extended the easy-con connectors again with a threaded rod. Since the connectors and brackets were milled in, the pull-outs conceal both perfectly
